Help end stigma and increase your knowledge

In any given year, 1 in 5 people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness. Mental Health First Aid is an investment in yourself, your employees and your wellness literacy.

MHFA can help you identify the signs and symptoms of declining mental wellness, feel more confident in offering support through non-judgmental listening and empathy, offer professional supports and learn the importance of self care for the first aider. You will learn the importance of language and ending stigma around mental health and illness.

  • Register

    Register and pay for a MHFA course. The cost is $250/person (corporate rates can apply). Minimum 8 participants, maximum 15, virtually, 25 in person.

  • Module 1

    This 9-hour course opens with a self-directed module (Module 1) that focuses on the information and strategies that participants will discuss and practice throughout the virtual or in person classroom modules (Modules 2 and 3). Module 1 is completed prior to the online portions, Modules 2 and 3.

  • Modules 2 and 3

    Modules 2 and 3 are offered virtually, in real time, or in person, in approximately 7 hours. Course participants are required to complete Module 1 before participating in Modules 2 and 3.

  • Certification

    Course participants will learn how to recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis. Upon completion of all three modules, you earn your certificate from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

Mental Health First Aid: an Investment in You, an Investment in Your Workplace

  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a course accredited and developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada.

    MHFA is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem, experiencing the worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.

  • Participants learn to confidently:

    -Recognize the signs of a decline in mental well-being

    -Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being

    -Reach out to these supports

    -Assist in a mental health crisis

    -Use MHFA actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being

  • -Feel confident to provide assistance to your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues

    -Bring MHFA to your community, workplace and the general public

    -Increased workplace morale and ability for staff to recognize signs and symptoms among colleagues and clients

    -Decrease the stigma of mental health in the workplace

    -Join the growing number of organizations recognizing the importance of this course, such as IKEA, Hydro One and Loblaw Companies Limited
